  1. Of course, no matter if they compensated for predation losses, CO ranchers whine, exaggerate losses, and bitterly oppose voter-mandated cattle and sheep losses. “Though the program mandates compensation for livestock lost to wolf predation, Colorado ranchers have bitterly opposed it. The capture of the Copper Creek pack followed the loss of at least nine cattle and 15 sheep in and around Grand County in 2024, though industry groups claim that their “undocumented losses” are higher.” Whining, exaggerated losses, and hysteria are part of ranchers’ DNA, demanding more compensation. Ranchers and hunters are a perennial threat to wolves, other predators, and biodiversity. Ranchers and hunter resist wolves; they display power and control, self-centered entitlement, and victim-stance positioning. It happens everywhere. It is occurring in Europe, too.
