Although Bill Maher is a staunch and righteous animal rights defender, he must have forgotten to mention,…the suppression of non-humans and the pumping of hot air into an overinflated human ego thereby giving them the sense of entitlement to exploit, enslave and kill animals at will. Unfortunately, most folks don’t interpret “Thou shalt not kill” to include non-humans. Maybe if the bible had suggested that ALL animals were created in God’s image, people would be a bit more humble.

Bill Maher is one of my heroes a true genius and comedian as well as staunch and righteous animal defender.
I wish there were more like him
I love your response Jim! I wish Bill Maher would see it too! And I also love the Kitty’s head on Mount Rushmore. Brilliant as always!
Thanks Claudine, but I didn’t mean to suggest that Bill Maher doesn’t see it–he is an outspoken defender of animal rights, but in this case he didn’t even mention non-humans and completely disregarded their plight. It just goes to show how quickly people forget about the animals as soon as any human issue comes along.
I love Bill but you are right – he SHOULD have mentioned the evil done to animals in the name of religion.
Bill Maher is great, no question about it. I didn’t mean to suggest I had a problem with him;) This quote was probably from one of his stand up comedy routines. I just think it’s sad that animal issues don’t even register a blip on most people’s radar screen, therefore he didn’t mention them.
Is he a vegam?
I’m pretty sure he is.
I mean vegan. To be a stauch animal right’s person-really must be vegan too.
No he’s not even “strict” vegetarian, according to this recent interview:

Too bad
Yes, and they must be able to spell it correctly too…;)
In his interview years ago with Larry Flynt, Maher bemusedly brought up the time when Flynt (age 9) raped a hen to death after hearing from other country boys who regularly molested “farm animals” that hens were best. I saw the interview so am not fabricating anything. With Maher and Flynt reminiscing fondly, even if Maher’s face showed a small bit of shock and distaste, still they both wore the smirkiest of grins, and Flynt remained unapologetic about it, sort of proud actually…”it was only a hen”…and Maher had no problem with that. Liberal/libertarian humanists are that first, and phony about it as well, so animals they throw under the bus at any opportunity, even if they proclaim to be for their liberation. Just my opinion, I’m sure it will cause problems in here. Hah, Jim, you may want to kick me out?
It’s okay if you kick me out… I know how to land, expert at it, heheh.
I don’t kick anyone out, unless they advocate for hunting–then they’re history.
No, in fact I was hoping someone had the inside scoop on him. Maybe that answers Denderah’s good question, “Is he vegan?”
A bit more about why Maher is not a strict vegetarian:
