Two Injured in Hunting Accident,

Nebraska Game and Parks is investigating a hunting accident at Yankee Hill Lake about 12 miles southwest of Lincoln.
According to Nebraska Game and Parks, two people were injured in an accident around 8 p.m. Sunday.
“There were some hunters hunting on a wildlife management area” said Levi Krause, Nebraska Game and Parks. “One hunter shot at a dove apparently it was over a slight ridge. We believe that the pellets from his shotgun injured two individuals from the side of the ridge.”
Krause said an eight year old boy and 26 year old man were taken to Bryan Health’s West Campus. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
According to the Nebraska Game and Parks website, dove season opened Sunday, September 1st and runs through Oct. 30th.
Yankee Hill Lake is a Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County.

Just shows how dangerous this activity is: for people and for animals. Well, an eye for an eye?
I post articles about hunting accidents not to be vengeful, but to point out (as you said) how dangerous and destructive hunting is for all.
And just watch. The shooters will walk away scot-free. They always do. It’s completely insane.
Exactly. Any other time a kid gets shot it’s prosecuted to the fullest, but I’m sure no one will be charged since it’s just considered a hunting accident…
I hope since a child was hurt, officials will take away the hunter’s guns and make him take a hunter safety course to get it back, as well as order restitution for medical bills. The injured have the right to sue in civil court at least for medical bills and I see no reason that would not be approved?

On the first day of dove season?
Anyone who refers to doves as the symbol of peace has never watched white-wing doves beat each other up with their wings. 🙂
Feathered winds are a bit less painful and lethal than shotgun pellets…
I didn’t mean, in any way, to justify hunting a species that may not be as peaceful as commonly perceived. I don’t understand killing something just for the challenge. If you want a challenge, try photography.
I knew you weren’t trying to justify hunting, and yes, wildlife photography is a much better choice.
My vote for photography! And the same animal or bird can be photographed over and over.. And with DSLR not even messy film and chemicals.
From my limited research on shotguns, they do not appear to be very long range. So how close was shooter to the injured, surely they could see each other. Although it does say slight ridge. Guess the pellets could arc from gravity, but still would be close I would guess.
