Dryden, Ontario (NNCNOW.com) — The Ontario Provincial Police had to help a bow hunter out of this tree stand after multiple bears trapped the man for hours.

Authorities were called to the camp in northwestern Ontario around 11pm Saturday on the report from a camp owner that a hunter had left for a tree stand around 2:30 that afternoon and had not returned.

The camp owner says they went to check on the hunter and learned that he had 4 cubs and 3 adult bears around the stand not allowing him to come down.

The officers along with the camp owner entered the wooded area where they were baiting the bears and successfully removed the hunter from the tree without incident.

Authorities say no shots were fired and there were no injuries reported.

  1. Oh, that poor man. Stuck in a bear trap for hours, and they don’t even report whether any limbs were crushed, or whether he tried to gnaw off the trapped limb. “[N]o shots were fired….” That man was so lucky he was in Canada and not the US where there’s a right to bear arms. Apparently the canucks don’t have a law against releasing a trap that’s not yours, another lucky thing for him.
