LANSING, Mich. (AP) — At least 11 wolves have been killed during Michigan’s wolf hunt in the Upper Peninsula.

The state Department of Natural Resources updated the results Monday. The wolf season started on Nov. 15 and runs through December, unless 43 are killed before the end of the year.

It’s the first hunt in Michigan since the wolf was placed on the endangered species list nearly 40 years ago. A total of 1,200 people are licensed to participate with firearm, crossbow or bow and arrow.

The DNR had estimated the state’s wolf population at 658.

  1. Didn’t 255,000 people sign a petition to stop it? what happened to that? unimportant to hear the other side?
some angry white men gotta have their way…? gotta kill something? how pathetic …
RIP brother wolf…they actually don’t know how ignorant their actions really are..we have failed to teach ecosystems and ecology in this country and SCIENCE so we all lose because they are killing carbon sequestering intelligent beings and forget they are the global warmers causing the havoc.

    • Yes, angry, white men who are unemployed, untrained in just about everything they should know to be in the woods, unfit for military duty or too chickenshit to enlist considering a real enemy shoots back, a wolf just runs away!
Not only are they not taught the Earth Science, Biology and Civics, they have not been taught ethics, either. That doesn’t stop them from climbing up on their soap box, pulling out their little book of the constitution of the US and reading us their 2nd ammendment rights! Just spews out of them like puke from a puppy!
But their minds are like a one-way street, GIGO!

    • I wonder if anybody stopped to think about the number of accidental shootings of people who are hunting with other hunters. Ya think they may have learned that they just might be paying Karma for the animals they have killed in the past. It’s time for those wildlife murderers to look straight in the eyes of the animal they are aiming at and if they don’t see a gentle spirit looking back at them, then they have just completety missed the message.
