Earthjustice went to court to stop Idaho from exterminating the Golden and Monumental wolf packs in central Idaho’s Frank Church—River of No Return Wilderness.
And we won! The Idaho Department of Fish and Game announced that it is halting its wolf extermination program as of today.
This will stop the wolf killings and restore the natural balance between predator and prey in the Idaho wilderness area.

I won’t stop feeling uneasy about it until I know that hunter has left the area…
Well done Earth Justice – let’s keep fighting!!
Pinned, tweeted, and scooped! Thank you.
Thanks for spreading the word.

Earth Justice is an amazing group ! I am proudly a member and plan to increase my donation to them! They got the job done !!! I know it took a long time and I am looking for details but it really is the first victory our beautiful persecuted wolves have finally gotten…
Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart!
Such exciting news. Its so nice to see the victories occasionally!
Yes it’s great news for those wolves!
What about the rest of Idaho ?
Unfortunately, this only applies to the two packs in the wilderness areas who were targeted by a hired-“wolfer.” It’s business as usual for the rest of the state.
Here’s how the Defenders of Wildlife put it: “Make no mistake; the state of Idaho is one of the worst places in America to be a wolf. Nine wolves in the Frank Church Wilderness had already been killed before the trapper was called off, and this is on top of the hundreds of wolves that have been killed in the state since federal protection for wolves was eliminated. We have every reason to believe that Idaho will continue its reckless and unwarranted wolf eradication program. There will surely be future fights to protect Idaho’s wolves, but let’s take a moment to celebrate this important victory for wolves!”

So happy for this. Was crying at work as was a co-worker. Thank you Earth Justice and everyone else who worked so hard to stop this.
