'Gage Coen: Jarrod, we shoud trap a couple hundred, take them up to Boulder and turn them loose. See how well they like coyotes then! Give them all our mangy coyotes, of course, because giving up the good one's would be a waste of money!

  1. Sheer ignorance breeds sheer stupidity.
We need to help these folks understand the coyotes help them in keeping the rodents down etc and should be allowed to live because they are part of the same system we are …they are not vermin …this is just like racism in America..If we keep educating the young people to see the world in a new way and shift their perspective from a culture of hate to one of love and acceptance we all win because there is not time left to kill anymore … The ice is melting and the seas are rising and these animals are actually carbon sequestering with their actions as we release carbon with ours…So when it comes down to it …they are helping us !
They are the noble stewards of our earth and not the other way around…Shift perspective required here….

  2. So well put. The problem is that many people still fall for the game agency lies, and even the mantra from so-called “animal groups” that there are “plenty of coyotes” and that they need “control.” Coyotes in many areas have been wiped out, and because they have absolutely no protections, the Enemy (Livestock/hunting industry), can continue its misinformation on this wonderful species, because it does not care at all about any predators, and most other wild animals. Its aim is to have cattle and sheep out on the land–and especially on our public lands, such as wilderness areas, National Forests, BLM & state lands. These ignorant native-animal haters have been responsible for billions of wildlife deaths, since the 1880’s. It is not stopping.
We must never accept the jargon or statistics from any of these “wildlife agencies” or from the Livestock& Hunting Industry, which has practiced “species-ism” for decades, if not longer.

Coyotes are never going to get any peace–neither are their cousins, the wolves, until we get serious about ridding The West of the Livestock Industry Scourge. The big semi-trucks run up and down the highways every day here in NM taking tons of hay to the ranchers, who no longer have grass for their cattle and sheep on the drought-barren land, yet they claim they are “making the land better with grazing.” Many “animal people” have fallen for this.

What we need is a strong, persistent ACTIVIST movement Against All Public Lands Ranching–no exceptions, no compromise, no collaboration anymore. “Activism” is not on Facebook. Not on blogs (although blogs such as this can be crucial to setting up such a movement).

I met a woman from a “wolf group in CA” last year. Her booth had wonderful wolf photos. When I mentioned the evil Livestock Industry and how they were behind the killings, her response was: “well, there are some ranchers we work with in CA, who are trying to co-exist with wolves.” My response was: “the only good rancher is an ex rancher, & I believe that the co-existence thing is a myth because the burden always falls upon the predators, not the rancher.” I don’t think she liked my response.

How much more slaughter of these native wild animals by the Livestock Industry and their partners in the hunting lobby, will take place this year before people who consider themselves “activists” will finally see the light—and be willing to stand up and be Anti-Grazing, Anti-hunting, with no more exceptions. This is why the other side (the killers) are winning: They know exactly where they stand, and THEY DO NOT BACK DOWN. You do not see these people inviting people like us to their meetings, seminars, to their boards or hiring us on their staff do we? Yet, wildlife groups do it all the time–and we go along with it. Malcom X did not back down on racism. Yes, he was killed, but he never backed down, and he knew The Enemy. Our movement, if there is to be one, must get some intestinal fortitude, realize that wild & wildlife has Real Enemies, and then we must develop an on-going, never-ending battle strategy. I wish it could be different, but this is what we (really the animals) are up against. It will be a war, but a noble one, which just might save remaining wildlife and wild places. Perhaps there are others out there who feel as I do?
