Serial Killing for Shopping Malls

The Earth is being raped, strangled and left for dead by people who care only about themselves and what they can get in the short term. The suffering of others is inconsequential. Indeed, they pride themselves in their ability to disregard the cries and struggles of their targets, whom they objectify while denying their very sentience. Like psychopathic serial killers, they ignore the rights and welfare of their victims, intentional or incidental.

  1. I don’t think they disregard the cries and struggles of their victims I think that is part of why they do it – the power they have over terrified struggling creatures gives them a thrill. And like serial killers it is needed again and again.

  2. The arrogance, sense of entitlement, and greed of the human species is beyond revolting, as is the total lack of compassion for the other creatures who get in the way of “progress” or are only regarded as pawns for our pleasure. That we can define causing the suffering and death of other creatures as some kind of “sport” or fun defines us as the bullies and destroyers of the planet.

    • “That we can define causing the suffering and death of other creatures as some kind of “sport” or fun defines us as the bullies and destroyers of the planet.”

      Wonderfully put!

  3. Indeed, Jim. I couldn’t have said it better myself. ahimsaforever, I love your comment too. Mind if I quote you elsewhere?

  4. Eagles and owls will also likely die in the pointless poisoning of 16,000 prairie dogs, biologists say. That’s why I don’t shop walmart, sams club, whole foods.

  5. I believe trophy hunters behave like psychopathic serial killers because they are psychopathic serial killers. Only their chosen victims are animals not humans. Psychopaths are quite different from what most people think of as human, as they seem to have a mind-set that is quite different. I’m not saying they can’t be ‘cured’, although many say that is in fact the case. I don’t see how we can know the answer to that for sure. Perhaps they just need to get ‘saved’ somehow or ‘evolve’ a long way, I don’t honestly know the answer to that.

Trophy hunters certainly do seem to have different ways of experiencing life and other creatures, seeing them primarily as ‘food’. Almost like a kind of sub-human who looks at the same creatures as anyone else, but seems something different, i.e. prey: “Me see – me kill – me eat.” They do vary in sadistic tendencies but a large proportion of them greatly enjoy all the blood and guts (skinning, dressing, stuffing, etc.) as well as the killing, and relish the eating all the more. Some are a great deal more sadistic than others, and just killing them and eating them is not enough.

They use practices such as bow hunting, traps, dogs or any methods or combinations of methods which feed their desire to witness the prolonged suffering of their prey which they know they will subsequently consume and delight in same. It is not unusual for hunters to enjoy despicable practices including killing a pregnant animal, or a mother and baby, as a two for one hit. Although it must be said there are hunters who deplore these practices. Nevertheless there are many trophy hunters who think nothing of spending tens of thousands of pounds for the opportunity to kill a certain animal – rather than use the money for a good cause – which surely cannot be regarded as normal and sane behavior.

  6. It is absolutely appalling to kill thousands of wild, native prairie dogs in order to build another worthless, f*cking shopping mall. They are treating these animals like garbage, as unfeeling impediments to “development” that need to be removed. This culture is indeed pathological and insane. Wild, native prairie dogs belong–shopping malls do not!

Has the town been given the opportunity to do traffic studies, environmental impact studies, etc. to see if this mall is desirable in their area, or will have detrimental effects? I do hope people have had the chance to consider these things and will sign the petition to bring it up for a vote; it looks like this developer is just going ahead as fast as possible before anybody knows what hit them.

    • It never went to a “vote” by the citizens….that was one reason we went for the referendum….we did save a lot of them and they are doing well….but it didn’t end there, Castle Rock is systematically killing all Prairie Dogs in this area under the cover of development. The new mayor is no different than the old one, in this respect. All impact studies that were done for this mall, were paid to be in favor of the developer. As someone who lived in close proximity to this are, I can vouch that they were 100% wrong as to what lives on that land (or should I say, “LIVED”)

The referendum was a tool to make the council LISTEN to our concerns, to allow the remaining Prairie Dogs to be relocated, AFTER they had brought their babies to the surface. Unfortunately 1500-2000 still perished at the hands of Ron Purcell at Animal & Pest Control Specialist (he still joyously does this).

  8. WOW! This kind of reaction, makes me feel a little better, over the years…WE STILL FIGHT THIS! EVERY DAY! Longmont, Broomfield, Boulder are other places we have had to fight to save the most innocent and important creatures we have in Colorado. Please if you get a chance look for us on Facebook and our upcoming website: Prairie Protection Colorado

Make a donation, sign our petitions, join us! As I have always said: “My heart won’t allow me to do anything less than to fight for those who cannot speak.” These precious animals need our help EVERY DAY to stop development from annihilation of every last one of them in CO.

THANK YOU to those who have paid attention to this plight!
