MEACHAM — Umatilla County Sheriff’s officials say a man has died after his father apparently shot him while the two were deer hunting.
The East Oregonian reported 47-year-old David Joseph Branze of Gresham was hunting with his father, Louis Neil Branze, and at least two others Wednesday when one of them called to report an accidental shooting.
Deputies say they responded and learned that 76-year-old Louis Branze of Seaside had fired a shot at a deer and apparently struck and killed David Branze. No other members of the hunting party witnessed the incident.
Search and rescue teams found the body, which was in a steep, rugged area. Sheriff Terry Rowan says the two had hunted in the area for about 40 years.
Deputies are investigating.

Oh well.
Guns don’t kill hunters, forest sprites that transform hunters into prey animals are responsible. Sadly, the transformation reverts once the hunter-prey dies. It’s a shame that hunters always identify absolutely their targets, and always deliver a killing shot, because there is no saving the “prey” once the bullet flies. Damned sprites!
Good wholesome family fun experiencing nature and the outdoors together. Isn’t that what they say?
Another candidate for the Darwin Award. They loves their guns in Oregon, in the woods and in the schools!
Some good news, for a change–keep those hunting accidents coming.
The son was 47, so I figure that’s about 30-40 deer that won’t be killed because of his early exit from Earth. And guessing the father will probably give up hunting, he’s 76, so a few more deer are blessed to live. Hate to see accidents, but the benefit outweighs the loss.
Two less hunters to disturb nature as I doubt the father will keep going. Keep it up hunters. You’re doing great!
Karma is very real, and this incident proves it. Gotta love when karma comes calling 🙂
