I had to put double sided sticky tape from the pet store on the posts of my furniture. It works. Saying the name of the culprit with a firm “thank you” stops them from scratching the carpeting. Now a small outdoor carpet turned up side down on their favorite carpet area to scratch has stopped them from scratching the good rug. Have to continue experimenting with what works.

I’m trying to figure out why none of the many scratching posts I bought was as attractive to my cat as the now shredded La-Z-Boy rockers.
