Dec. 20, 2017 — Dear Friends,

Lamby arrived in Austin today, where she will be cared for by the good folks at Austin Pets Alive. Thanks to the efforts of many incredible people, she has another chance at life. This time, a happier one. Anyone who wishes to continue to follow her story can find updates here:

  1. Is there some reason ETBG deals with nothing but horrifying animal stories any more??? Because I find this approach nothing but leading one down the path of suicide. If that is your intent, believe me, I will give you full credit. Nice going—you’re a pretty sick group .

    • Lately I’ve been doing a lot of re-blogging of these type of action alerts, but I’ve often wondered if the horrible subject matter is putting people off. I really don’t mean to inspire anyone to call it quits. Please hang in there and thanks for the input. Happy Solstice!

  2. Hmm, did I misread the news above? It sounded like a happy ending to me. Yesterday’s post contained a long list of good news and progress.

Yes, many people don’t like storied that are negative, sad, or pessimistic. But the number of animals abused and killed every day does not warrant optimism.

Anyone who wants upbeat news on animals can always watch hometown newscasts. They are almost always presented by cheerful and perky anchors, like the ones I saw reporting on a transport truck accident. Avoiding the overturned truck and the tarps and screens hiding victims, the clueless anchors giggled their way through a description of people chasing down the terrified surviving pigs. No mention of where those pigs would go when caught. Or how many animals were injured and killed. Hell, that could be depressing.

If we want to fight animal abuse and have a voice, we need to know what is going on. Neil Postman said something that is especially relevant for an anti-hunting blog: “Information is the gunpowder of the mind.”

I think most of us come to this blog to get ammunition to help us shoot back.
