Several cities in the United States, horse-drawn carriages are big money. Unfortunately these those big bucks come at a terrible price. Horses are often worked to death providing rides through the parks and in city streets for tourists who have no idea the animals are suffering. In fact just this year there have been at least 10 deaths, injuries or traffic accident around the world- all involving horse-drawn carriages.

Could not sign again (signed in December). Shatec. Bill Di Blasio promised to end it if he was elected.
Unfortunately, Bill DeBlasio doesn’t have the votes to stop it in NYC. People like actor, Liam Neeson, campaigned against banning carriage horse rides in NY. Too bad, I liked him as an actor, but he’s heartless.
Oh no..
I didn’t know that re: Liam Neeson..
Well, that takes HIM off my *gee/I like him* list..
Grrrrrrrrrrrr
Carriage horse rides started on Michigan Avenue a few years back. This is a beautiful, wide road where people drive at high speeds. It’s definitely dangerous for horses and people in carriages. Immanuel needs to bring a ban on this frivolousness at the expense of horses. Signed the petition.
Horse-drawn carriages have been undone by the modern world. I only hade to remember the time I saw a drive going batshit crazy behind the wheel simply because he had to slow down for one to know that it isn’t going to be good for horses. Not to mention any neglect and abuse they could suffer at the hands of the companies/owners – of if they can no longer care for them. Unless it is in a protected park, these things have to go.
