St. Lawrence County teen caught hunting deer

A St. Lawrence County man was arrested for illegally hunting deer.

According to the DEC, 18-year-old Elliott Matthews of Hermon shot two white-tail deer in a field in the town of Russell.

Matthews admitted to killing the animals and is now facing several charges, including taking deer out of season, using an artificial light, possession of a loaded firearm inside a motor vehicle and discharging a firearm from a public highway.
In total, Matthews is facing a $10,000 fine and the potential of losing his hunting license for up to five years.
