The email I received from a leading progressive organization contained a graphic featuring a quote from Jimmy Carter: “The NRA ‘represents the gun manufacturers and sellers’ not ‘the average hunters’ or ‘people who use guns for defense.'” In the wake of a renewed national gun debate, even liberal political voices are legitimizing hunting as a “proper” form of gun violence.

  1. Absolutely. I wish we’d lose the Pollyanna ideas about ourselves that everything is understandable if we all just try, and of course, all work together. There are just some things that I will never understand, and killing defenseless wildlife for fun, ego and profit is one of them. I hated that I stumbled on to an article about wolves at the HCN, and it turned out to be a promotion for a book that tries to make 06’s killer ‘relatable’. And it sickens me to no end that the left and Democrats want to cater to these killers for votes! Blech.

  2. It actually was rather amusing, because I think the book tries to make 06’s killer into an Aldo Leopold (talk about the sublime to the ridiculous) and fails, since he doesn’t regret his actions. In fairness, I have not read it – and won’t for this very reason.
