Maine Game Wardens say Mark Henderson of Eustis died after accidentally shooting himself in the leg while on a remote logging road.
Maine game wardens are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man who died after he accidentally shot himself while hunting.
Game wardens said Franklin County deputies received a call from Mark Henderson of Eustis just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 9. Henderson said he had accidentally shot himself in the lower part of his left leg.
Henderson had been bird hunting on a remote logging road near the northwest shore of Flagstaff Lake in Flagstaff Township.
Authorities found the man an hour later near his truck on the logging road. Warden Hladik administered CPR and loaded him his truck.

Exposing the Big Game 
IF this man was a good guy, I’m sorry this happened. But there are so many awful, ignorant, nasty people in Maine and lots of idiots have guns. Three woman have been shot and killed on their own properties In the part 15 years or so, by Maine morons with guns who thought they were shooting a deer. One of these morons was just sentenced to a measly nine months in jail. This 40 year old coward did not even have the courage to go to this unfortunate woman’s aid when he heard her cry out after shooting her. He realized he’d shot a human being, but called his father and his father went to her. The 34 year old woman was gem hunting on her own land. She died from her wounds. Her life is over and the coward who shot her and failed to go to her aid, was sentenced to nine months in jail. This incident and the judge’s sentence reveals something dark about the character of many people in the state of Maine. Whether governed by democrats, republicans or independents: ignorant, selfish, irresponsible Mainers often get away with deviant and sick behavior, in the name of honoring “Maine tradition.”
