, Ind. — A Valparaiso man is in stable condition after a LaPorte County hunting incident, according to Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
DNR said an unintentional, self-inflicted gunshot wound that occurred at Kingsbury Fish & Wildlife Area Sunday morning is currently being investigated.
LaPorte County Dispatch received a 911 call on a report of a hunter being shot in the leg and conservation officers were dispatched to the area around 7:30 a.m.
Vincent Fischer, 48, of Valparaiso, told DNR he had been deer hunting and attempted to place his .44 caliber revolver pistol in a holster when the firearm discharged and he was shot in the right leg.
Fischer’s juvenile son immediately used a belt to reduce bleeding and called 911, according to DNR.

With all of the danger, plus I can’t for the life of me understand why hunters enjoy this activity, knowing full well that they are inflicting pain and suffering on another living thing.
I don’t think people to this day get that other living things have feelings and are sentient as much as they are (or more than they are in some cases). 😦
The only difference is these hunters go into this of their own free will, so it’s hard to have any sympathy for them. Especially since hunting for meat isn’t a necessity in modern times.
Right. And it’s not that the don’t get that animals suffer, they just want to ignore or deny that fact so they don’t have to feel guilty (just like a murderous psyhopath).
We’ll keep reminding them, and the other enablers. ;(
