  1. So, in this case, the Chinese government worked well to contain the coronavirus from spreading, with quarantines and identifying contacts, but they are not operating well to stop a cultural societal practice.

  2. The larger picture of what is happening is: Too many humans on the planet, interfering & destroying remaining ancient, natural ecosystems. The Amazon and Australian forests are in rapid decline, with humans deforesting, burning, capturing animals for zoos, marketing, trafficking, eating exotic animals, which previously had sanctuary in these places. Over the centuries, these animals developed immunity. Viruses have existed in these once-pristine, untouched areas for millions of years. Now, humans have torn open Pandora’s Box, and many wild species are close to extinction. It is an horrendous Human-caused issue, and other viruses are waiting in line to take humans out. There is no real “cure” for this, unless human populations are substantially reduced, and we stop destroying whatever natural systems are left.
