Russia is in a position to “mount a major military action” says US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan

Russia has the troops in place to invade Ukraine “at any time” and American citizens should leave within the next 48 hours, the US has warned.

An invasion could start with aerial bombing that would make departures difficult and endanger civilians, the White House said on Friday.

A host of other countries have also urged their nationals to leave Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly denied any plans to invade Ukraine despite massing more than 100,000 troops near the border.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Russian forces were now “in a position to be able to mount a major military action” and urged American citizens in Ukraine to “leave as soon as possible” in remarks seen as a clear escalation in the…

  1. And we thought the Chernobyl Biosphere was limping along to some kind of recovery of sorts after a human-caused nuclear meltdown. Think again.

  2. As a Veteran of the USAF, I am very concerned regarding the nuclear issue. The U.S. should keep its nose out of Russian borders, which is very dangerous, and if Russia nosed its way over into the U.S. borders–just think of the horrendous response. I am no fan of either Nation-State/Empire, but the U.S. puts its nose and postures its “Military Might” way too much, and it has done so far too many times. The U.S. has some 800 bases around the world. Russia has a base in Syria and has about 7 bases in former Soviet Republics. I am also very concerned about North Korea, which has an unstable ruler. The U.S. must set the example of fostering a Less War-like, More Humane world situation, or else we are going to have a 3rd “World War”–to end all wars. Dying of radiation is not going to be like in the movies–and this World War will annihilate all life, except perhaps some microbial life.

    • I’m no expert, obviously, but NK is very concerning they way they are cavalierly testing missles all the time. We just got out of Afghanistan, and now here we are again. 😦

  3. “US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Russian forces were now “in a position to be able to mount a major military action” and urged American citizens in Ukraine to “leave as soon as possible” in remarks seen as a clear escalation in the…” Here is the War-Mongering again. Remember how everyone was beating the drums against the Wars in Afghanistan, and Iraq–many of us demonstrated against these Fabricated Wars?? Is this going to be another war where the U.S. Military bombs another country (perhaps more) back to the Middle Ages? Look at the messes in Iraq, and Afghanistan–have “we” learned nothing?
