KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — President Vladimir Putin dramatically escalated East-West tensions by ordering Russian nuclear forces put on high alert Sunday, while Ukraine’s embattled leader agreed to talks with Moscow as Putin’s forces drove deeper into the country.

Putin cited “aggressive statements” by NATO in issuing a directive to increase the readiness of his country’s nuclear weapons — a step that raised fears that the invasion of Ukraine could boil over into nuclear war, whether by design or mistake.

There are many damaging developments in the past decades which have led up to this tragedy, including the terrible creation of Nuclear Weapons, and the acceptance and expansion of Nuclear-armed NATO, which caused several countries to then escalate manufacture of more weapons. Both US and Russia have each have thousands of these Weapons of Mass Destruction. The presence of Nuclear Weapons is going to make it very, very difficult to solve this present Crisis.
    Have tactical nukes been used?
    During the Cold War, both the United States and the Soviet Union manufactured and deployed tens of thousands of tactical nuclear weapons. Those included nuclear artillery shells, nuclear antiaircraft missiles, and nuclear antitank rounds. However, none were ever used in combat.

    It should apparent to most thinking people that we have painted ourselves into a Nuclear Corner, & making it very possible that some of these weapons may be used in the near future, as the world becomes more unstable.
