Both the deaths are believed to have been caused by live wire traps laid by poachers.The female elephant, estimated to be about 25 years old was found dead in Khesra forest in Dhenkanal. In the same week, on August 24, two female elephants had died of electrocution inside Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Judia under Keonjhar Sadar range.

There seems to be no end to the continued unnatural death of elephants in Odisha, as the carcass of yet another jumbo was found on Saturday morning.

  1. Sure, a country’s native population is to be trusted absolutely to care for their endangered wildlife! They will go extinct unless there is a concerted effort to protect them. What do we consider important? People’s interests first or extinction?

    • That’s why I don’t use, “we” when I talk about humans–because most of them think and act entirely differently than you or I might… Humans are not insects, but we’re expected to think and care only for our anthill (species).
