MERCER — Game wardens are investigating the illegal slaughter of a deer in mercer.

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says the incident occurred on the West Sandy River road in Mercer.

They say a concerned citizen found the body of a doe in a nearby apple orchard.

Wardens determined she was likely shot between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th.
