If you live in Alaska and you’re 60 or older, you may never have to buy another state hunting or fishing license.

Alaska offers qualifying seniors a free permanent identification card that replaces their state hunting, sport fishing and trapping licenses. You only need to apply once, and the card stays valid as long as you remain an eligible Alaska resident.

Here’s what the card covers, who qualifies and how to get yours.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) offers a free Senior Permanent Identification Card (PID) to eligible residents age 60 and older.

This card replaces the need to purchase regular state hunting, sport fishing and trapping licenses.
