CEDAR PARK, Texas — Cedar Park police have rescued six raccoons from dumpsters in the past month, including three this week alone.
The Cedar Park Police Department’s Animal Control Unit said Tuesday that young raccoons are attracted to dumpsters as “an all-you-can-eat buffet” but often become trapped when they can’t climb back out.

Police are asking residents and businesses to keep dumpster lids closed and locked when possible to prevent the animals from becoming trapped.
“A secure dumpster = fewer raccoons stuck, fewer rescues needed, and happier trash pandas living their best wild lives,” the department said.
