Take Offensive “Duck Dynasty” Off the Air!

Duck Dynasty is an offensive and egregious show that encourages and glamorizes violence toward wildlife.

On a recent episode, a den of beavers (including new babies) were blown to smitherines as the cast laughed uproariously. They are teaching youthful viewers that non-human animals have no value; they use animals for recreational killing, and ‘entertainment’ while animals die in earnest.

Suspending Phil Robertson for his insulting remarks against the gay community is not enough — the whole show is a embarassing display of redneck ignorance, and twisted values.

Let’s not waste airtime glorifying brute force, and cruelty, making psuedo stars of those who do not respect human diversity or the sanctity of nature and woodland creatures.

Just look who has come forward to defend Phil Robertson….none other than jaw-dropping mean Sarah Palin, AKA ‘Cruella de Palin’!

Expressing My Freedom of Speech

My initial, instinctive reaction to the annoying nuisance known as Duck Dynasty was to just ignore them and they’ll go away. Well, it looks like they might go away even sooner than I’d expected, based on their new statement.

While it speaks volumes on the values and priorities of our society that they are being forced out of show business because of vile and degrading remarks about a group of people—rather than the fact that the entire premise of their program is based on murdering other sentient beings for fun—I’m glad to see them go no matter the reason…

The Robertson* Family Official Statement

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

I don’t know, but I’d think the gay community would be pretty offended by being called sinners by an ex-addict/alcoholic who became a multi-millionaire through selling gadgets designed solely to lure unsuspecting birds to their deaths. Seems pretty goddamn preachy and self-righteous coming from a bunch of yahoos who live only to destroy God’s creatures.

If any of this seems harsh, I’m just expressing my constitutionally protected freedom of speech.

ZZ Top Sues Duck Dynasty for Identity Theft

The shaggy Texas Rock Band successfully sued the “cast” members of Duck Dynasty for ID theft today, claiming the faux “reality” cable TV show was cashing-inzz32 on a look the furry guitarist made famous in the 1970s.

Top donated their $100 million settlement to an anti-duck hunting group which plans to put Ducks Unlimited out of business and purchase land where ducks and geese are actually protected—from hunters.

Sarah Palin Defends ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star’s Anti-Gay Comments As Free Speech

[True to form, the Huffington Post failed to even mention what Palin and the DD quacks have most in common–they’re all serial killers of animals.]

Sarah Palin believes the backlash over “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments is a threat to freedom of speech.

The 67-year-old duck hunter made headlines when GQ published an interview in which he discussed morality and sin, and juxtaposed homosexuality with bestiality.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” he told the magazine. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

After the quotes were published, GLAAD spoke out against Robertson’s comments, calling them vile and misinformed. A&E ultimately suspended him from “Duck Dynasty” with an indefinite hiatus, saying his views do not align with those of the network.

Some are coming out in defense of Robertson, like Palin, who believes he is being persecuted for merely practicing his First Amendment right.

She took to Facebook to voice her opinion Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The Chick-fil-A-loving Republican has long been a fan of the “Duck Dynasty” brood and has commended them for promoting conservative values. (Phil Robertson is staunchly antiabortion, and Salon suggested the cast’s long beards act as “symbolic reaffirmation of traditional values” for Americans opposed to social change.)

In August, Palin even recommended Washington emulate the “Duck Dynasty” family, CNN noted.

“To our GOP leaders in Washington, especially – this is what Americans desire and deserve; we’re not rooting for your social truces,” she wrote on Facebook at the time. “Kudos to these Duck dudes for speaking their minds, and for their boldness in living the American dream of LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – reminding us all that it’s only with freedom that anything is possible.”

In a statement obtained by The Huffington Post, Robertson defended himself against the controversy, saying he is only sharing God’s word.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together,” he said, in part. “However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me.”

Clarification: The headline of this article has been amended to specify that Sarah Palin defended Phil Robertson’s freedom of speech.

 

French teen accidentally kills father while hunting — and, distraught, turns gun on himself

Sadly, this hunting-related tragedy is far from the first to occur in French hunting circles.

In October, a 61-year old hunter mistook his son for a wild boar and opened fire, the Ouest France news site reported. Around that time, a 6-year-old was shot and killed in another traffic hunting accident.

A month earlier, a deaf 82-year-old hunter mistook two mushroom pickers for pheasants and shot them…

MT Sentators Host “Sportsmen’s” Town Hall

Bitterroot Valley legislators to host sportsmen’s town hall on regulation changes

HAMILTON – Two Ravalli County state senators will host a sportsmen’s town hall meeting this week on proposed changes to hunting in the Bitterroot Valley.

The meeting will be held at the Bitterroot River Inn in Hamilton on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Sen. Fred Thomas, R-Stevensville, and Sen. Scott Boulanger, R-Darby, will host the event.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow sportsmen to offer ideas, comments and concerns about proposed changes to the local hunting regulations, including requiring all hunters to obtain an unlimited permit to hunt elk in three of the four districts in the valley.

Other topics will include the youth cow elk season, whitetail doe seasons, hunting district boundary changes, anti-trapping initiatives and wolves.

Guest speakers include Keith Kubista of the Montana Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, who will address the anti-trapping ballot initiative.

Oklahoma deer hunters have a final opportunity to take firearm into the woods
when the 10-day holiday antlerless gun season opens Saturday in most
of the state.
Deer taken during the antlerless season are not included in the hunter’s combined season limit.
Okla. state wildlife officials encourage a high doe harvest to reduce overpopulation and improve buck-doe ratio for a more healthy deer herd.

Archery deer season continues thru Jan. 15th statewide.

The Washita National Wildlife Refuge, which is located west of Butler, Okla., still has duck blinds available for three midweek hunts this season.
This refuge offers some of the best goose hunting in the state.
All the weekend dates have been filled. However, the midweek hunts are still available.

A Clark County teen is recovering after police say he shot himself in the side.

The accident happened on a farm on Renick Station Road.
A neighbor says the teen was duck hunting when he got his foot stuck in some mud.
When he tried to get his foot out, he swung the gun around and fired a shot into his side.
Police say the teen is expected to be OK.

recreational meat-pursuers are ringing in the season by blasting away into flocks of wintering geese to make up for the fact that their sacrificial bird-of-the-day came from a grocery store.

Never mind that the poor being was raised in a windowless barn, crowded-in with so many other turkeys that their wings wither away to virtual stumps of appendages, their natural coloration was bred out of them anyway.

Can’t afford your own tormented Thanksgiving turkey this year? Not to worry, chances are some abattoir has donated hundredsDSC_0277 of frozen carcasses to your local food bank, in hopes of promoting their own animal industry. Here on the coast, turkeys were donated by a thriving seafood “processing” plant.

Non-human life has very little value in today’s world. Heck, a Montana wolf hunter can go out and mow down a loyal dog walking practically at her beloved master’s side and not face any legal consequences. The value of mass-produced birds is measured by the pound. No charge for their stark white feathers; they come off the body easily and can fetch a penny or so a pound at the pillow factory.

But the mighty hunters out in the tidelands currently shooting up a storm won’t be satisfied until they kill something themselves. There’s nothing like a hands-on blood bath to get you in the mood for a feast, I guess. Some folks haven’t come far from Plymouth Rock; at least they phased out witch burnings.

Wis. Hunters Apparently Shot at by ‘Animal Lover’

Hunters looking for ducks, find trouble. The harrowing hunting story happened in Barron County in Western Wisconsin.

Two men were shot at, numerous times, while hunting legally in Cameron. The man who opened fire, is only facing minor charges.

Both sides are telling their stories to Eyewitness News.

It’s the heart of duck hunting season. On Sunday, a marsh looked like it does, perfect, for outdoorsman, “we knew it was going to be a great day, it started out good.”

Yet within minutes of shooting two mallards, the hunters became the hunted.

A stranger lurking in the nearby woods, got mouthy, “he went off on a rant about how we shouldn’t be here, we should be in Afghanistan if we were gonna shooting something,” says Levi Johnston.

Then, that stranger, Van Hawkinson, got a gun, “for a moment there, I got angry and was hurt, I jumped in the vehicle took a .410 with me, what’s that gonna do? I shot out at the corn field up in the air, I had my weapon like so.”

We asked duck hunter David Reichenberger if he felt targeted, “oh absolutely, if he had a .22 or any other lethal weapon he could’ve killed us.”

Reichenberger and Johnston were in a canoe. No way to escape. The shots were close enough to scare them. And that’s the point, “I’m an animal lover and bird lover. I don’t like to see things die, especially for the sport of killing,” says Hawkinson.

Although the hunters were on private land, they had permission from the owner to be there. Authorities arrested and charged the 64-year-old with dangerous use of a weapon and disorderly conduct, which are misdemeanors and considered minor crimes by the law.

We asked Hawkinson if he was sorry, “yes, why? Because I went to jail for it.” He was there for one night, then he was free on $1,000 bond.

“That’s it?” That’s what David Reichenberger and Levi Johnston want to know, “he got nothing for basically trying to kill us, how is it you can shoot somebody and the next day get out of jail?”

Even if you are skeptical as to whether the letter will make any difference in reversing a ‘political’ decision, please sign-on. If enough of us send the letter, it will likely guarantee that these sorts of political decisions regarding wildlife will not be made easily in the future.

Dear Prime Minister,

I wish to express my strong opposition to the decision by the Conservative government to allow Mourning Doves and Barrow’s Goldeneye – a species at risk – to be hunted in Ontario. It has been reported that this decision was made very quietly, so as to restrict public input.

Hunters form a very small minority of Canadians, yet the wildlife they are permitted to kill are part of our shared natural heritage. Therefore it is shameful to deny the majority of us

a chance to respond before the final decision was made. We are the people who enjoy the environment in a peaceful and non-destructive way, and wish to continue doing so.

Mourning doves are part of our everyday environment and a symbol of peace, and do not appear to be a migratory species in southern Ontario. Are other small, sociable birds
to be the next target?

This appears to be a purely political decision aimed at throwing a “bone” to the sport hunting lobby as you shop for voters.

Most Canadians are not hunters and do not want to see sport hunting promoted to our youth.

The recreational killing of wildlife in no way reflects my/our history, traditions or future.
This is not subsistence hunting, which I can respect, or an economic driver and never was.

In any case, these small birds provide at best a minor source of food delicacies, but are primarily useful for target shooting – a total waste of life.

I am asking that you act quickly to prohibit entirely the killing of Barrow’s Goldeneye in all jurisdictions, and also cancel the Mourning Dove hunt in Ontario. I shall also request that the provincial government take appropriate action to bring this to a speedy end.
