Residents of Lytton, British Columbia, raced to flee the town as a wildfire quickly approached the community, forcing a full evacuation order to be issued.

Following almosta full week of record-breaking, deadly heat, a community at the epicenter of the worst conditions now has a new tragedy to overcome.

The village of Lytton, located in southern British Columbia, Canada, was the hottest spot in the entire country for three consecutive days. From Sunday, June 27, to Tuesday, June 29, Lytton broke the all-time Canadian high-temperature record, with each day hotter than the last. The heat peaked on Tuesday when the temperature reached 121 F (49.6 C)

If unprecedented heat wasn’t enough of a problem, almost a full week of extremely hot and dry conditions set the stage for another danger: wildfires.

“Hunting for money was already illegal, but it was given a green light anyway,” environment minster,

Cristiana Pasca-Palmer, told the Guardian. ‘The damages [clause in the habitats directive] acted as a cover for trophy hunting.”

Gabriel Paun, an activist and conservationist behind a petition that collected 11,000 signatures in the weeks before the hunting ban, sees the government’s decision as a step towards a safer future

President Joe Biden detailed topics including the COVID-19 pandemic, foreign policy, the American Rescue Plan and more in his first address to a joint session of Congress.SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea on Sunday warned the United States will face “a very grave situation” because President Joe Biden “made a big blunder” in his recent speech by calling the North a security threat and revealing his intent to maintain a hostile policy against it.

Last week, Biden, in his first address to Congress, called North Korea and Iran’s nuclear programs “serious threats” to American and world security and said he’ll work with allies to address those problems through diplomacy and stern deterrence.

*This month, the Germantown Sportsmen’s Association in New York has planned
a squirrel killing contest – the “Squirrel Scramble.” Whoever kills the
most squirrels or biggest squirrel in a day, gets a prize. Wildlife killing
contests serve no ecological or conservation purpose.

They are not ‘hunting’ and they teach children that killing as many animals as you can
for fun is perfectly okay. It is not okay. Please call immediately the
number below to protest, as the contest is this Saturday , February 27th.
If enough of us call perhaps they will feel pressured enough to suspend
this unconscionable event. Germantown Council Office and Town Supervisor

Help Stop Wolf Snaring Bill

Exposing the Big Game's avatarCommittee to Abolish Sport Hunting Blog

HB224 Snaring Wolvesin Montana. An indiscriminate cruel death sentence, for wolves and any other innocent unfortunate creature, HB224 will have a public hearing soon in the Montana House Fish Wildlife & Parks committee.

Traps and snares are baited, secreted, and left unattended in the tens of thousands across our public lands. Snares for wolves will add a whole new level to these weapons of mass destruction for these empowered trappers’ lenient and inhumane recreation.

As we continue to hear from owners of trapped dogs in Montana, two bird dogs out hunting were recently snared in our state. Just after one dog was saved from the snare, they found the other dog was killed by anothersnare. They are not the first or the last of our beloved companion animalsto be trapped, injured, or killed. It is amongour worst nightmares, in our dreams and in realty.

Here is the wolf snare bill…

What caused the ice ages? Tiny ocean fossils offer key evidence
This diatom species, Fragilariopsis kerguelensis, is a floating algae that is abundant in the Antarctic Ocean and was the major species in the samples collected for the study by Princeton University and the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. These microscopic organisms live near the sea surface, then die and sink to the sea floor. The nitrogen isotopes in their shells vary with the amount of unused nitrogen in the surface water. The researchers used that to trace nitrogen concentrations in Antarctic surface waters over the past 150,000 years, covering two ice ages and two warm interglacial periods. The last million years of Earth history have been characterized by frequent “glacial-interglacial cycles,” large swings in climate that are linked to the growing and shrinking of massive, continent-spanning ice sheets…
