Wardens say Robert Cyr of Penobscot was injured when he and friend Ben Burns of Freeport were pursuing the same bird north of Rangeley on Friday. They say both men fired and Cyr was shot, with 20 or more pellets striking much of his body. He was later treated and released from a hospital.
Wardens also say Kayla Corey of Kennebunkport is recovering from a shotgun wound to her foot. They say her firearm discharged while she was hunting in Piscataquis County on Monday. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Two guys after the same bird, one gets shot, sounds like a classic love triangle. In the second part of the story, would it be fair to say, “guns don’t kill people, but firearms will wound them?”
Too bad we don’t have a dead hunter, that would have been a better outcome.
Accidental justice is better than no justice.
It’s really hard to sympathize when humans by and large are insensitive, cruel and entitled when it comes to their ‘rights’ to wildlife and killing, and then go into harm’s way in what appears to be unprepared and inexperienced. Even a best hunting is a risky proposition.
You gotta love Karma tho – shooting oneself in the foot is rather poetic.
Certainly risky for the animals. I think we should bring back dueling so people could shoot at each other. More fair.
